History Characteristics
The council of Cangas del Narcea is located at the Southwest of the region of Asturias (North of Spain). This council has the biggest extension of the region with 823 km2.

It is accepted that it was de Roman Empire the introductor of the vines cultivation in Asturias

The presence of vineyard  in the North of Spain at the Low Median Age has been demostrated. In that period, the monks were the most enthosiast to the vine cultivation. Then, the Benedicts from the San John of Corias Monastery managed the most of the land of the Southwest of Asturias until the XIX century

The Filoxera epidemic near eradicated the vine cultivation in our land. However ,the effort of few craftsmen manteined it alived. Tje energy of wine producers and the popular support had achieved the reborn of the wine of Cangas, planting and regenerating vines, improving quality control and achiving classification awarded of wines as the Wine from the lang of Cangas   "Vino de la tierra de Cangas".

The wine of Cangas is a red wine of hard taste, intense colour, totaly natural, young and alived.  Grape varieties of Carrasquín, Mencía, Berdejo y Albarín tinto was used in its production.
